Vitamin D absorption increases several times when taken with fatty meals

Vitamin D is fat-soluble, so it is absorbed much better when taken with a meal containing fat — for example with lunch or breakfast with avocado or eggs. Taking it on an empty stomach or with a lean meal can significantly limit its absorption. The time of day matters less than the composition of the meal, though many specialists recommend taking it in the morning or at midday.
