Cutting sweet foods doesn't reduce cravings or improve health markers

A six-month trial found that diets high, low, or average in sweet-tasting foods produced no meaningful differences in participants' craving for sweetness, body weight, or markers of diabetes and heart disease. Researchers concluded that changing sweet food intake does not reliably retrain taste preferences. Most participants also reverted to their previous eating habits once the trial ended.
