All 23 known Homo naledi skeletons from Rising Star cave appear to be female
An analysis of tooth proteins suggests that all 23 Homo naledi individuals recovered from the Rising Star cave in South Africa were female. The finding strengthens the hypothesis that the bodies were deliberately placed in the cave rather than ending up there by accident. The study adds a significant new dimension to understanding the behaviour of this ancient hominin species.
