First gene therapy restores hearing in rare form of deafness

After decades of research, scientists have developed the first gene therapy to successfully treat deafness caused by a specific genetic mutation. The findings were published in Nature. The breakthrough opens the door to treating other inherited forms of hearing loss that have had no therapeutic options until now.
