Two days of oatmeal cuts bad cholesterol by 10%, Bonn study finds

A randomised study from the University of Bonn found that just two days of an oat-based diet significantly lowers LDL ("bad") cholesterol — by as much as 10%. The key mechanism involves beta-glucans, a soluble dietary fibre found naturally in oats that binds cholesterol in the intestines and limits its absorption into the bloodstream. Oatmeal has been a staple of the human diet for around 5,000 years.
