Supercentenarians have unusually high levels of CD4 T-cells, Osaka scientists find
Researchers at Osaka University have found that people aged 110 and older have unusually high levels of CD4 lymphocytes capable of fighting infections and killing cancer cells. The scientists caution that the finding does not prove causation — it remains unclear whether the high CD4 count extends life or is simply a consequence of it. The results nonetheless open a new avenue for longevity research.
