Obesity accelerates biological ageing, research review finds

A research review by scientists from Sichuan University and other Chinese institutions, published in the journal "Genes & Diseases", concludes that obesity may accelerate biological ageing beyond its known health effects. The authors describe molecular and cellular mechanisms — including oxidative stress and inflammation — that could be responsible for the process. The findings may influence future approaches to obesity treatment.
