High LDL and coffee? The issue is brewing method, not caffeine

Coffee contains no cholesterol, but natural oils in the beans — diterpenes such as cafestol and kahweol — can raise LDL levels in the blood. The amount that ends up in the cup depends on the brewing method. Paper-filtered coffee retains most of these compounds and is therefore the safest choice; unfiltered methods like Turkish coffee and French press release the most oils.
