Sardinian centenarians share a trait beyond diet and genes: strong social optimism

Scientists studying residents of Sardinia's "Blue Zone" — a region with an exceptionally high number of centenarians — found that beyond diet, exercise and genetics, the elderly share a common trait. Strong optimism and deep social bonds appear to slow ageing and support healthy life well past 100 years. Sardinia is one of five recognised Blue Zones worldwide.
