Cyclosporiasis outbreak spreads to 31 US states, source still unknown

US federal health authorities have detected a surge of cyclosporiasis cases across 31 states. The intestinal illness, caused by the parasite Cyclospora cayetanensis, leads to diarrhea, nausea and other gastrointestinal symptoms. The source of the outbreak is still under investigation.
