NASA's Perseverance rover finds complex organic carbon molecules in Mars rocks
NASA's Perseverance rover has detected complex organic carbon molecules in mudstones at the Bright Angel outcrop along Neretva Vallis, a dried-up river valley that carried water into Mars's Jezero crater billions of years ago. The measurements were taken by the rover's SHERLOC instrument. The rocks had already been flagged as potentially bearing signatures of ancient microbial life.
