Balloon carrying 60,000 cigarettes lands in field near Brodnica
On November 1, police in Brodnica received a report of a balloon found in a field in Zbiczno near Brodnica. The seven-meter balloon raised concerns, prompting counter-terrorism explosives experts to be called in and 150 meters of surrounding area to be evacuated. After the balloon was defused, 60,000 cigarettes without Polish excise tax were found inside, worth 75,000 zloty to the state budget. Police are investigating smuggling and tracing the balloon's origin.
