ZUS sub-account funds after death: who can claim them and how

When an insured person dies, money accumulated in a ZUS sub-account or OFE does not disappear — it can go to people designated by the deceased or enter the estate. A withdrawal request can be filed without time limit. If spouses held joint property, half the funds go to the surviving spouse's sub-account. The insured can designate any person — not only relatives — as entitled to the funds.
