Two "The Doll" adaptations on Netflix and in cinemas: what links the novel to Lublin?

Autumn 2026 saw two adaptations of Bolesław Prus's "The Doll." On September 16, a miniseries directed by Paweł Maślona starring Tomasz Schuchardt and Sandra Drzymalska debuted on Netflix. Two weeks later, on September 30, Maciej Kawalski's film version with Marcin Dorociński and Kamila Urzędowska reached cinemas, becoming one of the year's biggest Polish cinema hits. The novel has strong historical ties to Lublin, where Mincel actually lived.
