Government proposes 120 days of child care benefit annually
The Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Policy has drafted a bill (UD484) providing an additional 60 days of child care benefit for parents of seriously ill children — on top of the current 60 days. In total, a parent of a child under 14 could receive up to 120 days of paid leave per year. The attending physician will decide on granting the additional days by issuing an e-certificate; the state will fully cover costs. Changes will also amend the Labor Code — child care days with retained pay will be available to parents of children over 14.
