September was second warmest on record, El Niño to accelerate warming

Last September was the second warmest in recorded history. For the second consecutive month, average Earth temperature exceeded 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. Forecasts indicate the El Niño effect will accelerate global temperature rise by year's end and next year.
