Ministry proposes enclosures of 4–10 m² for dogs instead of chains
A draft regulation sent for consultation on September 23 sets the minimum enclosure size for dogs at 4–10 m². An amendment to the animal protection act from July bans keeping dogs on a leash; the rules take effect July 28, 2027. A dog kept outdoors must have access to a fenced area; an enclosure is permitted only on unfenced plots or when the animal poses a threat. The enclosure must have a permanent structure and at least two light-permeable sides.
