Tirzepatide, the active substance in Mounjaro and Zepbound, activated brown fat tissue in obese mice, tissue responsible for burning calories. This effect may partly explain the drug's potency beyond appetite suppression alone. If results are confirmed in humans, it could open the way to more effective therapies for obesity and diabetes.
