Scientists: Atlantic current AMOC weakening for nearly 20 years with global impact

Scientists have gathered strong observational evidence that a critical component of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC) has been weakening across a vast ocean area for nearly two decades. Weakening of this current could eventually transform weather patterns, precipitation, storms, winters and sea levels along Atlantic coasts. The effects could be global in scope and impact millions of people on both sides of the ocean.
