Tusk calls KOR founders 'political geniuses' on 50th anniversary

On September 23, 2025, exactly 50 years passed since the founding of the Committee for the Defense of Workers — Poland's first open anti-communist organization, established in 1976. Premier Donald Tusk told KOR founders and activists: "You proved to be not only romantics, but political geniuses. Poland is independent thanks to you." KOR was a precursor to Solidarity and the changes of 1989.
