Polish gas storage nearly full, but winter safety uncertain

Europe enters the heating season with a smaller safety margin than in previous years. Gas prices on the European wholesale market are approaching 80 EUR per megawatt-hour — a rise from around 30 EUR at the end of February, though still far from 2022 records exceeding 300 EUR. The market is increasingly vulnerable to supply disruptions, weather conditions and global competition for the commodity.
