Food inspectors gain power to monitor online commerce
From mid-month, the State Inspection of Trade Quality for Agricultural and Food Products may inspect not only product labels but also food offers on the internet. Deputy agriculture minister Jacek Czerniak emphasized that a new crime category — food fraud — has been introduced with associated penalties. Border controls on imported products have been expanded, and the inspection agency received additional staff.
