Foresters warn: insects and larvae make mushrooms toxic for humans
Pułtusk Forest District reminds mushroom pickers to carefully inspect each mushroom before placing it in their basket. Flies, beetles and their larvae tunnel through fungal tissue, damaging it — such specimens are not safe to eat and may be toxic to humans. Mushroom season is underway and poisoning cases are rising along with the number of inexperienced foragers.
