Walking to work may raise dementia risk — context of exercise matters more than movement itself

Researchers at the University of Southern California found that the health benefits of physical activity for the brain depend heavily on the context in which it is performed, not just the movement itself. Commuting-related exercise may increase dementia risk, while recreational physical activity reduces it. "Our findings challenge the long-held belief that for brain health, any movement counts," said researcher Natan Feter.
