Poland's Labour Inspectorate new powers are working: employers reviewing contracts, unions await more

The first weeks of a new Polish law expanding the powers of the State Labour Inspectorate (PIP) show the legislation is starting to bring order to the labour market and curb abuses, trade unions say. Employers are reviewing civil-law contracts for compliance with the new rules. A planned IT system integrating data from PIP, the tax authority (KAS) and social insurance (ZUS) is expected to be a turning point.
