15 August is a public holiday — employers face up to 60,000 PLN fine for ignoring it

An employer who fails to grant staff a day off in lieu of the 15 August public holiday commits an offence punishable by a fine of between 2,000 and 60,000 PLN. However, employees who are on annual leave or sick leave on the designated substitute day will not receive an additional day off.
