Cardiologists: up to 5 cups of coffee daily safe for the heart, 2–4 may protect it
New American Heart Association guidelines published in "Circulation" conclude that consuming up to 400 mg of caffeine daily — equivalent to five 240 ml cups of coffee — is generally safe for most adults. Studies link 2–4 cups a day with lower risks of heart disease, heart failure and stroke. Cardiologists stress that the source of caffeine matters, not just the quantity consumed.
