Type 2 diabetes starts in the gut microbiome years before diagnosis, study finds

Researchers have found that people who go on to develop type 2 diabetes show distinct changes in their gut microbiome several years before receiving a diagnosis. The discovery could enable earlier detection and more effective prevention of the disease.
