A residential development in Montpellier, France, kept indoor temperatures below 25°C during last week's heatwave — without air conditioning. Designers used Middle Eastern-inspired latticework to maximise ventilation and curved facades acting as giant sunshades. While the rest of France sweltered, residents of these climate-smart apartments remained fully comfortable.
