Worms in mushrooms: when to throw them out and when they're still safe to eat

Finding worms in foraged mushrooms is common in season. If larvae are limited to part of the cap or stem, you can cut away the affected section and eat the rest safely. However, if the infestation is widespread or the mushroom is rotting, the whole find should be discarded.
