Devil's egg mushroom in Polish forests: edible but easily confused with deadly Amanita

The "devil's egg" — the juvenile stage of the stinkhorn fungus (Phallus impudicus) — is appearing more frequently in Polish forests. In this early white, jelly-like form it is edible, but its resemblance to the deadly death cap (Amanita phalloides) egg poses a serious risk to foragers. Experts warn against picking them without expert identification.
