Director D'Avilla's film "Let Us Be" spotlights intersex rights rollback in US
Brazilian filmmaker Viviane D'Avilla has made "Let Us Be," a documentary shining a light on the rights of intersex people in the United States. D'Avilla's path to the subject began over a decade ago when she met members of India's Hijra community — a legally recognized third gender — while working on a photography project there. In an interview, she warns that intersex rights in the US are actively being taken away.
