Grand Theft Auto 6 fans have spotted a cheeky nod to Vice City protagonist Tommy Vercetti in the game's second trailer. In GTA 6's second trailer, we get a mini-montage of a day in the life of co-protagonist Jason Duvall. One key moment sees him walking into a store, slapping the cashier, and taking cash out of the register. However, Twitter user GameVerse spotted something of note. At the 33-second mark of the trailer, right as the cashier turns his head, you can see a painting of a lizard on the wall. The lizard happens to be wearing a blue floral shirt – the same one as Tommy Vercetti from GTA: Vice City. It's somewhat remarkable that this detail has largely gone unnoticed for a year, given the fact that the trailer has hundreds of millions of views and has been hyperanalyzed by fans. However, it's easy to miss since the lizard is obscured until the cashier is slapped, and it's only visible for half a second. It's also just blurry enough that if you're not really looking for it, it may not stand out. It seems like a safe bet to imagine there will be plenty of other references to Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, given that the two titles share a setting.However, you probably shouldn't expect Tommy to show up in the flesh. Not only did actor Ray Liotta pass away in 2022, but Rockstar has always tried to keep the PS2-era titles separate from the other entries. In response to a fan question back in 2011, Rockstar revealed its logic behind how it separates the different universes but, of course, it could always change this if it really wanted to. The 'universes' are the worlds interpreted at different definitions, 2D, 3D and high definition, so we felt brands and radio/background characters would exist in both, but three-dimensional characters would not, said Rockstar. This is the logic (as far as it could be considered logical) behind it – so no, we don’t believe any GTA 3 characters could exist in the GTA 4 universe. GTA 6 will seemingly feature Phil Cassidy, but it doesn't appear to be the same version from the original GTA: Vice City. The new version has both of his arms, which wouldn't be possible if it were the same continuity, given that he blew his arm off in the 80s. Spider-Man: Brand New Day stars Tom Holland and Zendaya really enjoy Insomniac Games' Spider-Man games.In a recent interview with IGN Benelux, Holland and Zendaya were asked whether or not the games were used as inspiration for certain sequences in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Although they didn't really answer the question directly, they did note that they're big fans of the game. We love the games, the games are absolutely sensational, said Holland. I'm not very good at playing video games. I get very frustrated because I want to play it all by myself, and he'll try to come [help me], added Zendaya.The two then explained how Zendaya had troubles with a section in Marvel's Spider-Man 2. In the back half of the game, Mary Jane Watson gets taken over by a symbiote and turns into a villainous monster known as Scream. Zendaya noted that she had a lot of trouble with that portion in the game and, ultimately, Holland had to help her with it.This isn't the first time Holland has expressed his love for Insomniac's Spider-Man games. When promoting Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021, Holland noted that Sony gave him a PS5 to play and he really enjoyed playing it. He stated that the team even copied one move from the game and added it into the film. Fans believe that the move is when Peter flips Green Goblin through the air before slamming him back into the ground, using his webs to propel them.After seeing Holland and Zendaya's comments about the games during the Brand New Day promo, Insomniac Games extended an invitation to have the two stars come visit the studio. Warframe community director and live ops lead Megan Everett has said that no one is celebrating the heartbreaking news that Sony pulled the plug on Destiny 2 support.Both sci-fi shooters have had just enough in common to keep them in the same conversation for more than a decade. It's a friendly competition that carried developers Digital Extremes and Bungie from the 2010s into the 2020s but, when the latter announced it had shuttered all plans for future updates in May, both communities largely decided to lay down arms.As Destiny players come to grips with the end of what has evolved into a go-to video game for thousands, some members of the Warframe team have chimed in to bid them farewell. Everett elaborated on her feelings during a conversation with Eurogamer. Truthfully, it's heartbreaking. It's earth-shattering, she said. I never thought I'd ever see the day where I'd read an article from Bungie about Destiny 2 essentially shutting down. I'm speaking personally, but I know people would echo it as well. No one is celebrating the fact that this has happened to Destiny, and its players and that story. I know that people have obviously compared us in terms of being 'direct competitors' and stuff like that. But I think a game is healthy when you have competitors, and [Destiny's developers] have done such an amazing job at trying to grow that story regardless of whatever situation they were in. The end of Destiny 2 came as a shock to everyone – Bungie included. After the announcement that support was winding down, Forbes reported that much of the studio's staff was unaware of plans to cease support until the public announcement. It means development on more Destiny content had continued even after the decision was made. The final update, Monument of Triumph, was launched on June 9.It's been a tough pill to swallow, and one that's resulted in Destiny fans signing petitions and flooding livestream chats, seemingly to no avail. Everett is one of many who saw fans flock to Destiny 2's aid in its final days but, for her, it's hard not to imagine the outcome if the cavalry had shown up sooner. I think what's unfortunate and sad is they announced this was happening, and suddenly people are showing all this support for them, she added. They've been getting a lot of negativity for all this time, and it's like, where was all this love? People need to put the hate away and show the love, because they could have really used that. I know it was there, but it wasn't as vocal as maybe some of the negativity. Other members of Digital Extremes have already offered their thoughts on the end of Destiny 2 support. Warframe creative director and Lotus actor Rebecca Ford was one of the first to share appreciation for Bungie's impact, calling Destiny a force of nature and adding that there is no Warframe without the legacy of Bungie games. Everett said that the community team has seen comparisons between Warframe and Destiny almost every single day. The die-hard players who have logged hundreds – if not thousands – of hours into each game will tell you that the two have less in common than many would think. They each have their own strengths and have been appreciated by different players for different reasons.Now, as the competition dies down, Everett says she would never say what has happened to Destiny is a good thing. For Digital Extremes, the existence of a competitor as towering as Destiny seems to have only helped Warframe grow. I think having games that are similar enough that the communities can come together and talk about both games, and maybe educate people on those games so people go to both, that's not a bad thing, she added. I've said for forever, I never expect anyone to only play Warframe. You would burn out so fast if you did. So having other games that scratch a similar itch is healthy for our genre. A handful of actors have started confirming they have roles in Grand Theft Auto , including one of the stars of Marvel's Wolverine.Actor Brett Gipson, who plays Sabretooth in Marvel's Wolverine, has added GTA 6 to his resume. The resume notes that he will be playing a character named Ellis, but no other details have been confirmed. It's unclear how big his role will be but, for what it's worth, there's no indication that we've even seen Ellis in any of the trailers or screenshots thus far. Although the focus has been primarily on the game's two protagonists, Jason and Lucia, Rockstar has shone a light on a few supporting characters, including Jason's friend, Cal Hampton, and his boss, Brian Heder.Gipson isn't the only actor to reveal their in GTA 6. Actors like Katie Burke, Ignacio Navarro, and Massi Furlan have all disclosed that they're in the highly anticipated game. Some of these appear to be background characters like random NPCs, while others are withholding their exact roles. It's unclear if Rockstar has granted actors permission to share their roles, but it would make sense as marketing ramps up for the game.It's likely that performance capture for GTA 6 has concluded, or is close to being finished, as Rockstar barrels toward the finish line. Pre-orders will open for GTA 6 later this week, with some fans believing a third trailer may drop at the same time. Last week, Rockstar also revealed the official cover art for GTA 6, which signaled to fans that the game is indeed releasing on time this November.Whether or not Rockstar itself will announce any casting for GTA 6 itself remains to be seen. Fans have spent years speculating over casting, and have even seemingly found out the actors for certain characters, but nothing has been confirmed.
