Vaseline on the face in winter: when a cosmetologist says it's worth using

Cosmetic vaseline creates an occlusive layer and reduces transepidermal water loss by up to 98%, but does not supply the skin with ceramides or lipids — explains Małgorzata Misiejuk from BasicLab. It should therefore not replace a cream, but only supplement skincare. Refined vaseline has low comedogenic potential because its molecules are too large to penetrate pores. Problems arise when applied to uncleansed skin — then it traps sebum and impurities under the occlusive layer.
