Sokołowsko: the Silesian spa that inspired famous Davos
Sokołowsko in Lower Silesia is where Dr. Hermann Brehmer founded Europe's first tuberculosis sanatorium in 1854. Patients ate five meals daily, walked extensively and slept with windows open. The method proved so effective it inspired other spas, including the renowned Davos. Today the historic sanatorium building is being renovated and houses the International Laboratory of Culture.
