Met Gala 2027 to focus on everyday fashion instead of Galliano retrospective
The Metropolitan Museum of Art announced that Met Gala 2027 will take place on May 3, and the accompanying Costume Institute exhibition titled "extraORDINARY: Fashion and the Poetics of the Everyday" will focus on jeans, T-shirts and designs made from paper or plastic. It replaces a previously planned exhibition "John Galliano: Horizons" dedicated to the designer's over 40-year career. The exhibition will be open to the public from May 9, 2027 to January 9, 2028. Internet users and media reacted ironically, calling the theme boring and banal.
