Kwaśniewski warns: Trump may yield to Putin on US bases in Poland
Former president Aleksander Kwaśniewski said on Radio ZET that the Republican defeat in the midterm elections was a "painful defeat for Trump" and a referendum on him. In his view, the real threat to US troop presence in Poland is not the election results themselves, but possible concessions Trump might make to Putin — including demands to withdraw NATO forces from Central and Eastern Europe. Kwaśniewski stated that Trump is "close to selling out Ukraine" and that both Democrats and Republicans are essentially favourable to US presence in Poland.
