EU approves MediaMarkt takeover by Chinese JD.com

The European Commission approved on Tuesday the acquisition of Ceconomy — owner of the MediaMarkt and Saturn chains — by Chinese e-commerce platform JD.com. Approval is conditional on a ban on providing financial support to the acquired company and an obligation to ensure access to warehouses and technology for competing firms.
