Man demanded cryptocurrency ransom from factories and theme parks, had bomb materials
The Central Bureau for Combating Cybercrime detained a 50-year-old resident of Opole Voivodeship in late May 2025. The man sent threats to plant explosive devices at factories, theme parks, an airport, and epidemiological stations in Poland and abroad, demanding payment in cryptocurrencies. Potential losses to victims were estimated at several million złoty. Knives, batons, a stun gun, weapon replicas, a crypto miner, and materials that could be used to build a bomb were found in his car and home.
