Hackers linked to Russian intelligence attacked phones via U.S. anniversary sites
Researchers detected a hacking campaign carried out with "moderate to high" certainty by Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR). Attackers injected malicious JavaScript into visited sites, including america250.org commemorating the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Constitution's signing. The code profiled devices and stole browser cookies, and in some cases Wi-Fi passwords and full phone data. Attacks targeted both iPhones and Android devices.
