Mars shows signs of volcanic activity that may support life

The European orbiter TGO detected signals of hydrogen chloride escaping from fissures near the volcano Alba Mons on Mars. Scientists interpret these emissions as evidence of hot magma beneath the planet's surface. The environment may resemble hydrothermal deep-sea vents on Earth, where life probably emerged. The research was published in Science Advances.
