EU Parliament softens combustion car sales ban after 2035
The European Parliament's environment committee backed a compromise weakening the planned ban on new CO₂-emitting cars from 2035. Manufacturers would need to cut emissions by 95 percent versus levels, or just 87.5 percent if using low-emission European steel. This means petrol, diesel and hybrid cars could remain on sale after 2035. Polish MEP Elżbieta Łukacijewska said "common sense won."
