First measles death of a child in New York in 30 years

A child from rural Lewis County in northern New York died after contracting measles — the first such fatal case in the state in 30 years. State health authorities announced the news Monday, and Governor Kathy Hochul confirmed the death occurred in Lewis County, approximately 150 km north of Syracuse.
