Polish State Fire Service launches "Where to Hide PL" app with 88,000 shelters
The State Fire Service released the free "Where to Hide PL" app on November 2, 2026 via Google Play and App Store. The tool displays over 88,000 shelter locations with capacity for approximately 24 million people and works without internet. Upon launch, it shows addresses, distance, and walking time to the nearest shelter; with an active connection, it redirects to Google Maps or Apple Maps. Deputy Interior Minister Wiesław Leśniakiewicz urged Poles to download the app in advance.
