Memorial plaque unveiled for pilot killed fighting Solska Forest fire

Captain Andrzej Gawron, a 65-year-old experienced pilot with LOT Polish Airlines since 1993, died on May 5 while fighting a forest fire in Solska Forest. He was flying a firefighting aircraft M-18B Dromader when it struck tree tops. On Friday, November 5, a memorial plaque honoring his memory was unveiled at the Polish Partisans Museum Osuchy '44.
