China tests GJ-21 combat drone landing on Sichuan assault ship
China conducted its first tests of takeoff and landing of the GJ-21 combat drone aboard the Sichuan assault ship — the first vessel of the 076 class. The ship is equipped with electromagnetic catapults and an expanded flight deck that could eventually serve as a light aircraft carrier for unmanned vehicles. Beijing did not disclose test details, but success brings China's navy closer to operational use of combat drones at sea.
