Space industry could face shortage of about 150 rocket launches by 2030

Quilty Space analysts estimate that the rocket launch market outside China will fail to meet demand by 2030, with a potential shortfall of around 150 missions. The shortage stems from Russian rocket withdrawals following the Ukraine invasion, growing demand from Amazon and the nanosatellite sector, and delays in new vehicles like Neutron and Terran R. The tightest supply is forecast for 2028; SpaceX has not outlined plans to broadly open Starship to commercial clients, and a possible discontinuation of Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy could double the deficit.
