Five arrested for $130 million student loan fraud using AI

The U.S. Department of Justice announced on October 29 the arrest of five people suspected of mass student loan fraud using artificial intelligence. The fraudsters impersonated American students to obtain financing, with estimated losses reaching as much as $130 million. Charges include participation in an organized financial fraud scheme.
