Blood test can detect Alzheimer's risk 10 years before symptoms appear

An international scientific study found that a simple blood test can predict the risk of cognitive decline linked to Alzheimer's many years before the first symptoms emerge. People in the highest risk group have a 38% chance of cognitive impairment within five years and as high as 78% within ten years. Scientists claim the discovery could enable earlier intervention and development of disease-preventing therapies. The test may open the way to treating Alzheimer's before memory problems appear.
