Parish cemeteries charge vehicle entry fees and percentage of monument value

Families of the deceased pay not only for gravestones at parish cemeteries but also additional fees to the parish. Stonemasons speak of an unofficial "tithe" — priests collect around 10 percent of the monument's value. A single truck entrance fee for delivering a gravestone to the cemetery can cost up to 500 zloty.
